The Fall 2022 Annual Fall Fundraiser by the Allen Library Endowment Fund (ALEF) raised a record $16,801 at its October 15 event. ALEF President Eileen Tollett called it “our most successful fundraiser ever” and thanked the dozens of attendees for their support.

For the first time the event included a live auction. Attendees bid on items that included a golf foursome at Watters Creek, the opportunity to be a police officer for a day, and dinner for five prepared by Allen firefighters. Led by auctioneer Eric Hoyle, the auction generated so much interest that several items were sold and awarded in duplicate. As in year’s past, the event was held at Blue House Too at Watters Creek.

The proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go to support enhancement of the Library’s Teen Area. In previous years, ALEF funds have supported the Library’s STEM program (science, technology, engineering, and math), the Library’s World Language Collection, e-books, and robotic kits.

ALEF’s mission is to raise needed funds to enhance existing projects and programs of the Allen Public Library, and to make new ones possible. ALEF believes the Library is a centerpiece of our community and encourages donations of any amount. You may learn more about how donations are used by clicking on  Donate in the menu.
