The annual fall fundraiser by the Allen Library Endowment Fund (ALEF) raised over $30,000 at its November 4th event. ALEF President Jeanie Schulmeister thanked the many individuals, businesses, and organizations who attended, sponsored and donated this year. The theme of the event was “Treasure our Library,” and Jeanie inspired all the attendees to think back to their personal library memories as they were invited to help support the next chapter of Allen’s beautiful public library.

Many attendees’ favorite part of the evening was the delicious food and wine provided by Elkes Market Café and perfectly paired with gourmet, handmade dark chocolate crafted by Sanne Bogart of CocoaVina. Another highlight of the event was the educational support from the Allen Library Staff, who answered questions about the planned expansion, architectural plans, and more. Jeff Timbs, the library director, Claudia Wayland, assistant director, and Laura Wooten of the Citizens Steering Committee, were positioned at stations around the room, complete with beautiful full-color posters of the new plans for the library.

The proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will directly support the new library expansion’s Teen area. ALEF’s mission is to raise needed funds to enhance existing programs of the Allen Public Library, and to make new ones in the future possible. Believing that our library is the heart of our community, the ALEF encourages donations from supporters in any amount. Checks may be made payable to Allen Library Endowment Fund and sent to 300 North Allen Drive, Allen, TX 75013. Or donate online at
